Flying Start Early Childhood Teacher Incentives
The South Australian Government is offering a generous $10,000 individual financial incentive through the Flying Start Early Childhood Teacher Incentives program, to attract and retain early childhood teachers returning to the sector or moving to South Australia. An additional location incentive from $10,000 up to $50,000 is also available for eligible early childhood teachers moving to regional, remote, and hard-to-staff communities.
Individual incentives apply to roles in Flying Start services that are partnering with the OECD to deliver 3-year-old preschool programs. Location incentives apply to specific pre-approved partner services - see services with location incentives attached.
Visit the OECD website for an overview of available benefits, details on eligibility and how to apply, and download the Flying Start Teacher Incentive Guidelines.
Attractive Salary Packages
Early childhood teachers in South Australia can enjoy competitive salary packages, with additional benefits such as higher salaries for positions in rural or remote areas. These areas also often offer more affordable living costs compared to metropolitan regions, allowing you to maximise your disposable income.
Job Stability and Career Progression
South Australia faces a high demand for early childhood professionals, offering job stability and long-term career prospects. Early childhood teachers who relocate to these areas often enjoy the opportunity to make a significant impact on local communities and contribute to the development of early childhood education in areas that may have limited access to quality services.
Professional Development Opportunities
Early childhood teachers in South Australia have access to extensive professional development resources. Funded programs, workshops, and training are available, specifically designed to support early childhood teachers in both urban and regional settings. Early childhood teaching professionals are encouraged to continue growing their skills and knowledge in a dynamic and evolving field, with opportunities to connect with other professionals in the state.
A High Quality of Life in a Scenic and Relaxed Environment
South Australia offers a unique lifestyle that combines a peaceful, slower pace of life with access to stunning natural surroundings. The state is home to beautiful countryside, charming small towns, and close-knit communities that offer people the chance to build meaningful relationships and be a part of a supportive environment. The affordability of housing and cost of living in some areas are often much lower than in larger cities, providing teachers and educators with the opportunity to enjoy a comfortable, balanced lifestyle.
Supportive Community and Strong Work-Life Balance
Early childhood teachers in South Australia often find that the close-knit communities foster a greater sense of connection and support. The lower population density and less hectic pace of life offer a better work-life balance, allowing teachers to enjoy more personal time, engage in outdoor activities, and experience the relaxed lifestyle that regional living offers. Additionally, many areas have strong local networks, making it easy for new residents to feel welcomed and integrated into the community.
Access to Support Networks
Early childhood teachers moving to South Australia may be supported by various local and regional networks designed to assist newcomers with settling into the area. These networks offer support not only in terms of professional development and resources but also provide a sense of belonging and connection with fellow teachers, local families, and organisations.
