2019 KU National Conference – the Power of the Question

18 October, 2019

Ku Annual Conference 2019

Founded in 1895, KU (then the Kindergarten Union of NSW) opened Australia’s first preschool aimed at providing education to the community’s most disadvantaged children – and in that moment, early education in Australia was born. Today KU is one of Australia’s largest and leading providers of preschools, childcare and other early education services, and remains proudly not for profit.

2019 KU Annual Conference

The KU Annual Conference has been running for over three decades and attracts renowned speakers in early childhood, including thought leaders, policy makers and academic researchers

With the theme “The Power of the Question”, this year KU Annual Conference invites participants to consider the art of questioning to stimulate thinking and inquiry.

The conference streams aim to provoke delegates to consider the power of the question as an imperative to creating an explorative attitude among children and educators. Delegates will be invited to consider the art of questioning to support inquiry-based teaching and learning and the birth of new ideas. Thoughtful and intentional questions will help lay the foundation for reciprocal conversations and generate opportunities for children to be reflective, curious and challenged.

The 2019 Annual Conference will feature international keynote speaker Alise Shafer Ivey (USA), alongside a program of highly regarded speakers.

An aim for delegates in 2019, is to embrace this unique opportunity and be inspired to continue to act from deep integrity, to call forward opportunities to practice and critique the art of questioning, to engage in rich conversations and sound pedagogical decisions that will generate opportunities for children to be nimble and reflective, curious and challenged, innovators and researchers.
