The Northern Areas Council is situated in the heartland of the Southern Flinders Ranges, approximately 200 kilometres north of Adelaide and within the traditional lands of the Nukunu and Ngadjuri Aboriginal people. Jamestown is the main service centre for the district with additional services offered at Gladstone, Laura and Spalding to provide for the smaller communities of Caltowie, Georgetown, Gulnare, Stone Hut, Tarcowie and Yacka.
A rare opportunity has presented itself to appoint an experienced Senior Executive to the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the Mayor, Elected Members and Council Staff, the CEO's key responsibilities include:
- Delivery of the Strategic Plan
- Oversee operations of the Council
- Provide sound financial management
- Lead and develop an inclusive high-performance culture
- Oversee major projects and infrastructure
- Community and stakeholder engagement
- Support Economic Development and Tourism
- Grant Funding
- Media, Marketing and Communications
Ideally, we are seeking an experienced Senior Executive with Local Government experience or a prior background working within a highly regulated environment. Being an excellent communicator and people person, you would be expected to be visible, approachable and accessible across all the communities throughout the region. Your sound asset management experience will be critical in overseeing several major projects - in particular, road and bridge maintenance and replacement. Your connections with State and Federal Government will be highly valued.
